The Rise and Shine Children’s Choir, founded in 2011, is one of the community ministries of the Calvary Chapel Chinese Fellowship. The Choir has over 60 children with ages between 5 and 18. Classes are conducted in English; repertoire includes the Motets of the Renaissance period, contemporary music, folk and art songs, musicals, and choral works from the master composers of east and west, old and modern. Training elements include proper vocalization, vocal solo, choir techniques, harmony, head tone, sense of musicality, rhythm, sight reading, basic theory, singing posture, music appreciation, and more...
Music activities include annual concert, community concert, concert tour, music camp, and music festival. In summer 2016, the Rise and Shine Children’s Choir and the San Gabriel Valley Children’s Chorus participated in the Notes of Joy International Choir Festival in Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. The tour was extended to Venice, Florence, and Rome in Italy. The elevation in the singing techniques, the growth through team learning, and all other unique happenings during this trip gave our children an unforgettable experience.
The choir rested nearly three years during the pandemic and was re-opened last August. Once again we are able to dedicate our love and effort to our community. Glory to God!
